A groundbreaking ceremony was held on 9th May 2022 for the Bristol Myers Squibb Building at the Center for Cancer Immunotherapy and Immunobiology, to be constructed in the south-eastern part of the medical school campus.


A groundbreaking ceremony was held on 9th May 2022 for the Bristol Myers Squibb Building at the Center for Cancer Immunotherapy and Immunobiology, to be constructed in the south-eastern part of the medical school campus. The building will be constructed based on a donation of JPY 5.5 billion (US$ 53 million) from Bristol-Myers Squibb K.K., in addition to a grant from the Japanese government.

The ceremony was attended by Jean-Christophe Barland (President of Bristol-Myers Squibb K.K.), Akira Murakami (Director and Vice-President of Bristol-Myers Squibb K.K.), Tadao Ando (Representative Director of Tadao Ando & Associates), Koichi Yamashita (Managing Director of Shimizu Corporation), and other construction workers, who collectively prayed for the safety of construction.
